Liposome is a microparticulate colloidal vesicle, in which aqueous medium surrounded by single or multiple concentric layers of phospholipids. Both hydrophilic & hydrophobic drug can be incorporated, water soluble being trapped core and fat It offers controlled release, targeted delivery thus enhanced therapeutic efficacy reduced dosing frequency. Several liposome based formulation are approved for clinical use many under extensive investigation. Therapeutically, these used as carrier drugs, viruses, bacteria, antigen, peptides (antibiotic), vaccines, genes diagnostic agents.
